We have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.” Hebrews 10:10

Paid in Full

Have you thought lately about the amazing work of Christ on the cross? All my sin, whether great or small, has a price. That price is death, because a holy and good God cannot allow even a little bit of sin in to heaven. To be honest, I don’t want a little bit of sin in heaven either! It wouldn’t be heaven if there was just a little bit of lying, or just a few murderers.

Yet, because of the offering of the body of Jesus Christ, we have been sanctified. Sanctified means made holy. Now Jesus lived a pure and holy life, and then died and paid the price for all sin without ever having sinned once. So when I stand before God and He looks at me, it’s like a red rubber stamp saying, “Paid in Full” on my debt, and instead of seeing all my sin, He sees the holiness of Jesus.

But it gets better. Jesus died once for all sin. Not just all of my sin, but all the sin of the worst person in the world, and all the sin for all the people since the creation of the world. A 12-year-old asked me, “How did Adam and Eve get saved?” And the answer is that Jesus’ death paid the price for their sin as well. We have the benefit of being able to look back and see how God did it, but they just had to believe. When they did the one thing God asked them not to do, the reason God could clothe them and show them grace was because of Jesus’ work on the cross.

Once for all

Jesus Christ

Offered His death

So we could be made holy

Sanctified

“Our Father, we can do nothing but bow in thankfulness for work of Your Son. Amen.”
