Joy – Day 5

In the days before Christmas morning, our children do much asking for what they want to see under the tree. They have confidence in our love for them, which drives their hope that the asking will become receiving. As parents or grandparents, these little ones with their bright eyes and big dreams delight our hearts. We want to fulfill every wish and see their joy on Christmas morning.

In this passage, Jesus is encouraging us to pray for the things we need, for the things that concern us. Perhaps we even pray about dreams and hopes. We may need strength, encouragement, or wisdom. There are ever so many things to pray about.

We pray in His name, for that is the only way we can enter the throne room. He has made us acceptable before the Father. Surely, God takes delight in that we come to Him with every request and plea. We come asking because of our confidence in His great name, who He is, and our faith in His ability to do for our good and His glory. Just as worship fuels joy, so also prayer fuels joy. As we see Him move in our lives in response to prayer, joy arises anew.

Do you want more joy? Pray.
