“No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead…” Philippians 3:13 NLT

Today –A 2020 Reboot

I was thinking/praying about the not-so-great moments of this year so far and the Lord impressed upon my heart that every today is the first day of the rest of your life. So I decided I’d draw a line in the sand and start 2020 over.

I’m on a group text with four lovely ladies from last year’s Re-Engaged Couples Study and I invited them to join me.

My invitation went something like: I don’t know about you, but 2020 hasn’t been exactly what I’d planned or hoped it would be on a number of levels. So today, I’m purposing in my heart for a “2020 2.0”, a kind of restart or upgrade on the things within my sphere of influence and control: my devotion time; how I spend time in general; my thought life and prayer life; the words I speak out; my diet and exercise plan…the list goes on and on in areas where I’ve either slightly or epically failed!

Rather than focus on the failures, disappointments, etc., I pray I’m able to focus on the goodness of God and becoming the best me I can be in the rest of 2020! If this applies to you please feel free to join me and if not I’d really appreciate your prayers as I start out on this new journey to see what God wants to do with the rest of the year.

These four beautiful ladies responded with: “Yes and AMEN!…I feel that the expression ‘hindsight is 20/20’ is very apropos for our restart.” Another said, “I will certainly join you in a reboot of 2020…Thank You, Lord, for your love and goodness!” I loved the “O my goodness, I’m on board. I need a reboot” response, as well as “I absolutely feel the same! I need a reboot and God’s 20/20 vision.”

I imagine we’re not alone in our desire to start fresh in a year that has been upended in so many unimaginable ways, but let’s remember God is the same yesterday, today and forever! He’s the Rock we need to stand, sit and kneel on when the world makes no sense. His love, grace and mercy are still the same. He cares and has a plan and a purpose for each of us in this new season. We may not know what it looks like yet, but He does.

Ladies, if this sounds like something you’d be interested in doing, I would encourage you to form your own text groups or do this within small groups you’ve already established. If that’s not possible, the Lord will certainly meet you in your own 2020 2.0 Reboot.

Father God, thank You that even in the midst of the need for physical distancing, You provide ways for us to lift up, encourage and join together to start afresh. Please give us Your vision.
