“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” Hebrews 13:8

Same Jesus

Approximately thirty years ago, I took an evening class in “writing.” I submitted a few writings, and also kept a journal at that time; however, when life challenges and trials surfaced, I put my writing on hold, and it wasn’t until “Walk His Way” devotional was birthed through Her Ministry of Little Country Church, that Jesus inspired me to write again—His Spirit leaped within me, and I knew at that very moment that I was to honor this privilege for His purpose and His glory.

The same Jesus Who walked this earth many years ago to fulfill His Father’s will is the same Jesus Who lives in us today, desires us, loves us, and inspires us to do His will.

Today, I would like to share with you a condensed version of one of my writings from that particular time in my life:

“He had no stately form of appearance that anyone should be attracted to Him. His countenance revealed confidence, humility, and His eyes filled with compassion. Crowds were drawn to Him as He spoke with power, compassion and love.

There were some people who envied Him, and one day their jealousy overtook them. ‘This Man claims to be King,’ they scoffed. Then began how they could be rid of Him, so they took Him before the judge, and presented their accusations. The judge could see that this Man had done no wrong, but left the decision up to the people. Their decision was to have this Man Jesus killed.

Soon the day came for Jesus to die. They spat upon Him, mocked Him, and whipped Him as He carried His cross on His back up the hill to be crucified—yet He spoke not a word, for He knew because of envy they had delivered Him up.

The sky became dark as He hung nailed to the cross, and with a crown of thorns pierced through His head—He uttered ‘Father forgive them for they know not what they do.’

His mother and close friends stood by in despair—Jesus spoke, ‘It is finished.’ He gave up His life and died.

The officials took Him to a cave and rolled a large stone over the entrance.

Three days had gone by—the earth shook which rolled the stone away. He had risen just as He’d promised! He’s Alive!

Who is this Man that would do such a thing as to carry upon Himself all our guilt and shame? What a heart full of love, humility, and compassion that He would lay down His life for His friends.

Truly He is Who He proclaimed to be, fulfilling His promise to die, rise, and live again for you and for me.”

“Lord, thank You for going through such suffering in obedience to complete Your Father’s will—all because You love us. Thank You for giving us the Holy Spirit so we can experience life with You today and forever. Amen.”
