‘“Because he loves me,’” says the LORD, “’I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.’” Psalm 91:14

God’s Protection

I’ve written of my “dirty” construction yard before. It is currently a place of refuge and provision for the birds. Daily swallows come and haul away fine sand from the road base pile and most recently there is a mother dove that has chosen the water truck as a place for her nest. Now mind you, this nest is only about four feet from the ground and could easily be ravaged by a passing feral cat or my dogs, but she is holding her own. She even patiently waits for her babies to return as my husband takes the truck around the yard spraying water for dust control.

See how precarious their nest? Do you ever feel this exposed?

God tells us in His Word that He will protect His own.

“You are my hiding place; You will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance” (Psalm 32:7).

“He holds success in store for the upright, He is a shield to those whose walk is blameless, for He guards the course of the just and protects the way of His faithful ones” (Proverbs 2:7-8).

Jesus Himself prayed for our protection.

“My prayer is not that You take them out of the world but that You protect them from the evil one” (John 17:15).

At this time I don’t know the outcome for these little ones. I trust God will keep His Word.

“Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care” (Matthew 10:29).

When you feel exposed and scared, remember that God is there and you are protected under His wings.

“Heavenly Father, thank You for Your promise of protection even when we are in a precarious situation either by our own doing or the doing of another. Thank You also for Your promise to the birds on the water truck. May they (and we) mount up on wings like eagles and live for Your glory. Amen.”
