Hope – Day 4

Before Andrew ultimately became one of the 12 disciples of Jesus, he was a disciple of John the Baptist, and he was with John at the River Jordan when it was revealed to him that Jesus was the long-awaited Messiah. Can you imagine being one of the first ones to know the Messiah had finally come? What a privilege for John and his disciples. But it wasn’t an easy road. Hanging out in the wilderness. Baptizing from morning to night. Wearing camel skin. Eating bugs…for most of us – that’s a hard pass. But God says He rewards those who diligently seek Him (Hebrews 11:6). John’s commitment came from his hope. A hope rooted in his desire to see the Messiah – and he did! Let us also be diligent and hopeful – let’s put God first in everything we do, and God promises to reward us.

Prayer

Lord, help us to seek first Your kingdom. Thank You that You promise to reward those who put You first and put their trust in You. Our hope is deeply rooted in the truth of Your promises. We ask that You lead us in Your will, revealing to us Your wisdom, and the truth of who You are.

Call to Action

Consider fasting a meal this week. Instead, pray, read your Bible, listen to worship, or even just sit in silence and meditate on God. Scripture teaches that fasting is a great way to seek God. And, after all, eating nothing beats eating grasshoppers.
