“And my God will meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19
Our Father’s Love
I was taking my two young daughters to the cemetery so we could put flowers on their Daddy’s grave. When I parked, I noticed horses in the field next to the cemetery. I told the girls that next time we came we could bring apples to feed the horses.
We took the flowers and walked to his grave. I tried to unscrew the flower holder from the headstone to access the vase for the flowers and water but it was stuck. I prayed out loud with the girls asking the Lord to help me open the vase. I tried again but I could not open it. I looked around the cemetery for someone who could help but I saw no one.
I started praying silently, “Lord, the girls heard me pray, You have to help me open this vase.” A thought came to me that maybe I could use the lug wrench for leverage to open the vase. The girls and I went back to the car and I opened the trunk. By the spare tire and lug wrench there were two apples. The day before I had gotten groceries and one of the bags had fallen over. Apparently two apples had rolled out of that bag and I hadn’t seen them when I picked up the bag.
The girls fed the apples to the horses, then I took the lug wrench and got the vase opened. We were able to put the flowers on his grave.
It may not seem like two apples for the girls to feed the horses was really a “need,” but to this Mama’s heart it met my need to remember that our God was with us. That He cared about a young widow and two fatherless little girls. That He had not left or forsaken us. I had witnessed many miracles during my husband’s illness and after his death, but somehow the apple miracle touched my heart so deeply—that God would care about such a small detail and arrange a special way to show His love and care for us.
“I will never leave you or forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5).
Father, thank You that You love us so much that even tiny details of our lives are important to You.
I see that so many times… the tiniest things are taken care of and in such a way, I know they are the Lord. We have a very gracious Father and friend.
What a poignantly beautiful reminder. Thank you for sharing. So sorry for your loss.
He is a good, good Father!
This brought tears. To think God knew exactly how to provide what was needed at that moment.
That is what He does; it’s sooooo awesome! Thank you for sharing.
It’s so comforting that He cares about even the small details….bless you.
I am so happy to read that our personal Savior showed such personal attention to your needs. Jesus is such a gentleman and the sweetest beyond measure. May God continue to provide yoir needs for you and your daughters.
