“A Psalm of Thanksgiving. Make a joyful shout to the LORD, all you lands!” Psalm 100:1
To Joyfully Shout Again
Walk His Way Revisited
Nothing is better than watching children make joyful, gleeful, shouts! Not those high-pitched screams, but real shouts of joy about the smallest of things. A cookie for dessert, a new toy, or mom or dad returning home from work can thrill the youngest boy or girl. At what age do we stop shouting for joy? Who told us to stop? Intuitively we do just that… stop. And yet God’s Word clearly says to make a joyful shout to the Lord!
The last time I shouted for joy was when a family member gave birth. The room was full of happy grandparents, uncles, aunts and cousins, and joyful shouts could be heard through the corridors of the hospital. Nurses noticed and even the hospital CEO came to the room where we waited and remarked that he had never seen so many happy people in his hospital.
There is nothing like the joy of a new baby… and yet when I think about all I have to be thankful for and what Jesus has done for me, I can’t help but wonder why I don’t shout it to the rooftops.
When we left that hospital we were still smiling and laughing and our boisterous conversation left a trail behind us.
For the next few weeks, I am going to make it known to anyone and everyone my joyful shouts of thanksgiving. I want to leave a trail behind me. I am purposing to be excited about even the smallest thing that Jesus has done. Will you join me?
Father God, may I be ever mindful of all you have done. You deserve ALL my praise and I want to make it known to all… may my joyful shouts be heard by You!
So much to be grateful for and joyous about!
Amen!!
Count it all joy as James tells us. I choose Joy!! It’s so good!
