“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.” James 1:17
Gifts
A Walk His Way Revisited Mini Devotional
Think of a child’s birthday party. The excited smiles, the gifts, the wrapping paper shreds, the gifts scattered all around.
The gifts scattered all around…those carefully chosen, wrapped, and presented gifts…scattered and set aside as another gift is torn open. The requisite “Thank you” is uttered with a smile as the child scans the area to see if there is another present waiting to be opened.
Am I any different with the gifts God gives me, I wonder? How many of His gifts do I take for granted…the air in my lungs, the heartbeat in my chest, my family, my friends, leaves on the trees for summertime shade, my clothing, my transportation, wellness, food, maybe even my salvation. I just need to stop, and breathe, and remember all the things I am blessed with—without looking around to see if there is more.
Heavenly Father, give me a grateful heart. Help me take the time to appreciate all that You give to me. Thank You, Father, thank You.
Sometimes a trial (or few) helps appreciation a LOT! We are so incredibly blessed. Lord, let us never take you for granted!
Amen.
I have been sick and as I recover I realize I was taking so much for granted.
I love this simple yet powerful lesson! Truth need not be complicated!
Thank you so much!
