“Love never fails.” 1 Corinthians 13:8
Bittersweet
Part 2
Walk His Way Revisited
Yesterday I shared the true story about a beautiful mother giving all her love to her son on his wedding day in June. When the groom later shared this song with me, my heart and mind finally understood why I couldn’t get this moment in time out of my thoughts, long after the captivating day ended. Once I read the words in English after hearing the song at the wedding in Croatian, it all made perfect sense to me. I’m sharing the translation of this song, “Sine moj” by Thompson from Croatian to English (translation by Lucas Caetano). I pray you, too, are inspired through these beautiful, encouraging words:
My Son
Silence is often stronger than the words,
But a song tears down everything.
Various winds are beating on me,
But because of you, I am not giving up,
My son.
I know by the warm gaze of yours
That you see everything in me,
But I too look at you as if you were Heaven
And live for you,
My son.
May on your way God lead you,
Then you won’t betray your stock.
Only faith preserved me,
I loved God, and He gave to me you,
My son.
May in your heart always be a spot
For all good people,
Who under the sacred banner go
Through reality and dreams.
Who under the sacred banner go
Through reality and dreams.
Silence is often stronger than the words,
But a song tears down everything.
Various winds will be beating you,
But don’t let them break you,
Various winds will be beating you,
But don’t let them break you,
My son.
May on your way God lead you,
Then you won’t betray your stock.
Only faith preserved me,
I loved God, and He gave to me you…
May on your way God lead you,
Then you won’t betray your stock.
Only faith preserved me,
I loved God, and He gave to me you,
My son.
Following is the story of the groom’s father. Initials are used instead of names.
T met NM, his future wife, in middle school. Their friendship continued throughout the years and eventually they started dating. At the age of 19, he joined the Yugoslavian Army. Shortly after his return he married the love of his life on September 23, 1984. They lived happily in K and had two beautiful children. D and G were five years apart and were T’s pride and joy. In 1993, everything changed. The Civil War caused his family to have to flee their home and look for shelter. After defending his people and family for a short time during the Civil War in Bosnia, T took his family to safety in Germany. After five years of living as refugees of war, the two optimistic parents decided to start fresh and bring the family to the United States of America with a couple suitcases of clothes.
Thank You, Lord, for giving us Your beloved Son as an example of Your never-ending love for us.
