“Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us…”  Ephesians 3:20-21

The Cry of our Heart

Walk His Way Revisited

Our heavenly Father knows what we need before we even ask (Matthew 6:8b)!

I was helping a friend move. It was a stressful time. Her husband had already moved to their new home in another state to start work at his new job. That left his wife and children to finish up all the rest of the packing and head out.

Adding to the stress and heartache of leaving that day, she had two adult dogs that had to be left behind. Without a reasonable thought or plan, I impulsively blurted out, “Let me take your dogs. I’ll find a good home for them.”

I said good-bye to my friend and took the dogs home with me. Now, what in the world was I going to do with these dogs? We already had a dog and neither my husband nor I wanted any more pets, especially these pets! I gave them each a bath, then trudged down to our vet’s office and posted a note on their bulletin board describing the dogs and leaving my phone number.

By the time I got home the phone was ringing. A lady was calling about the dogs already! She was actually at the vet’s office and saw me post the note! She came to my house to see the dogs and exclaimed, “Oh, they are just what I want! Both of them!” She was so happy! I was so happy! My husband was so happy! My friend would be so happy!

The thing is, I didn’t ask God to help me find a home for those dogs. Maybe my friend prayed, maybe the lady prayed (maybe my husband prayed!), but I didn’t. But God supplied anyway. He saw the need and honored my desire to help my friend and her pets. He heard the cry of my heart! That’s grace! That’s God!

Father, thank You that You hear the cry of our hearts, whether verbally spoken or not. Who can fathom the depths of Your attentive love? I am so grateful!
