“You are coming to Christ, Who is the living cornerstone of God’s temple. He was rejected by people, but He was chosen by God for great honor. And you are living stones that God is building into His spiritual temple. What’s more, you are His holy priests. Through the mediation of Christ, you offer spiritual sacrifices that please God.” 1 Peter 2:4-6
Stained Glass
Walk His Way Revisited
Over time, your shattered heart will soften. It will never return to not having been shattered, but the shards will no longer cause you to bleed all over anyone who comes near you. You will be able to open your palm, show the pieces around the room, and tell the story without the harshness of the original feelings. Before you get to this point, it will feel like you cry and can’t stop crying, and that you never will.
“Those who sow in tears will harvest with shouts of joy. They weep as they go to plant their seed, but they sing as they return with the harvest” (Psalm 126:5-6).
Your tears are not in vain. This may be a season of planting something very deep, and the tears that water it contain salt. The salt is the abrasive and will soften you.
Last week I was praying a familiar prayer about things that only Jesus can heal. I asked Him to come and invade my home, and as I prayed it, I could actually picture it happening. I then asked Him to take the shattered pieces of my heart. With the eyes of my spirit, I saw Jesus picking the shattered pieces up one by one and lining them like puzzle pieces into the window. The pieces were now multicolored, with softened edges, and Jesus was making a stained glass window out of them for His light to shine through. Aren’t stained glass windows usually found in old church buildings? Yes, this is right, because my body is the temple of God; my home is now His home, too. Hadn’t I just been asking Him to invade this place? That, He did. And He made it beautiful. “God has made everything beautiful for its own time” (Ecclesiastes 3:11).
I had spent so many years crying, I had no idea that God was using my tears to create something that would bring Him glory.
Now when people hear my story, they will hear an unexpected ending. They will hear how God transformed my desolate wasteland. They will hear how I was sowing for a vast harvest, when at the time, all I knew was that I couldn’t stop crying.
Nothing is wasted when submitted to Jesus. He will use every shattered piece of us to shine His glory through.
“You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good” (Genesis 50:20).
Dear heavenly Father, You love and heal us so well. We never go through anything alone. Thank You for being so close to our broken hearts and for using every piece. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
So beautiful and true. Amen.
These verses touched me today, I changed you to I am in the verse, really personalized it.
