Walk His Way Revisited
Why are we sometimes surprised when God answers prayer? Getting caught up in the circumstance and the drama of the great need and what our solution is for God to do about it, maybe? I forget He is ALL knowing, Almighty GOD, and cares beyond my imagination. He has the best solution in process all along! I need to be still and know He is God!” (Psalm 46:10a)
I love the sweet surprises He brings my way like a smile from a stranger when I don’t deserve one, the sweet fragrance of flowers from the breeze when there are no flowers around, or the cleansing fresh rain drops when I thought they would be freezing cold.
But the surprise that puts me to my face the most is His incredible Love for a sinner like me who seems to fall back from His beautiful plan into patterns of destruction. He gently reminds me He has this and I can let it go. He doesn’t need my spoken words that originally I intended to be helpful, but instead I ended up reacting and say the wrong, harsh thing.
Lately I’ve desired nothing more than for the LORD to cleanse my heart so deeply that my desires are always in line with His—that the lust of the flesh, the pride of life, and my selfish ambitions would just be gone. But I’m here on earth, and the flesh raises its ugly head, catching me off guard, and once again I punish myself by sometimes withdrawing from His hope. He quickly calls me back to His unrelenting Love with sweet reminders from His Word like: “Because he (she) has set his (her) love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him (her); I will set him (her) on High, because he (she) has known My Name” (Psalm 91:14). He knows my hearts deepest desire is for His glory!
When the storm is intense and there seems to be no earthly solution possible, remember He is the God of hosts who is the mightiest of all, all knowing in everything, and the most faithful, caring Father. He loves you beyond imagination and loves to surprise His children in His perfect time; in ways we least expect it beyond comprehension. And when we turn to Him in the sometimes unending storm, He loves to saturate us with His peace, reminding us of His complete control, and that our worries are pointless. He is working things out in His economy, in His time, and in all lives involved for His perfect glory, which is also for our good.
Father, You are our Almighty, incredible GOD who loves us relentlessly. We know You are in complete control. Help us not to forget. Surprise us now with Your peace that surpasses all understanding and which changes everything. GOD, we want to live in this knowledge. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
