“Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.” Psalm 23:6
Magnificent Promise
I found a simple picture in a Christian bookstore many years ago with these words from Psalm 23. It showed a woman in a garden in the distance. Very serene. I take a peek at it once in a while and retreat to this place in my mind, remembering the gentle love and care from Jesus.
If there ever was a promise in Scripture that makes it all worth it, it certainly is this one. The Lord’s every thought is on each one of us. He knows the number of hairs on each head. If our glorious Creator knows each sparrow’s whereabouts, He certainly knows the things in our lives that have happened and will happen. He goes before and behind events, working for His glory and our good. There is no need to question or doubt, only to trust Him completely.
Of course, choices and decisions need to be steeped in prayer. I can trust that He is turning around the times I’ve acted impulsively in the flesh, and using them for His glory and my good. I need to keep my hands open, my heart and mind submitted to His will for the solution, and walk through the process with eyes focused on His love. Confession of sin and forgiving myself and others for what has happened is also key.
Accepting the current situations, we are called to trust God to work all things out for good. This is God’s best solution. This starts by sitting at His feet and allowing the Holy Spirit to minister deeply in our souls and allow His peace to flood our hearts and minds, reminding us of His love and the fact that surely His goodness and His mercy are going with us all the days of our lives.
Dear Father, thank You for Your constant attention and care. Thank You for Your Word and promises that sustain and encourage us daily. We know You are in control of the whole universe and have our situations and circumstances in Your hands. We love You, in Jesus’ Name.
