“But whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.” John 4:13-14

Springs of Water

I enjoy going on hikes which lead to waterfalls. It is quite spectacular sitting and relishing beauty designed by God. The sound of cool refreshing water splashing entices me to scoop a handful to drink!

“Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who trusts in Him” (Psalm 34:8)!

Then I ponder about Jesus, who fills my thirst when I am dry and needy. He fills me with an abundance of grace, goodness, and love. Am I truly willing to follow the watercourse He has set in motion for me?  Sometimes I find myself hardly flowing (see the small, circled waterway). I feel a sense of withering away when I veer further from Him. My desire is to be grounded with deep roots securely receiving Jesus. The trees growing next to the water flourish because they continually soak up the goodness of water. We know our goodness only comes from God!

“He will be like a tree planted by the streams of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also does not wither. Whatever he does shall prosper” (Psalm 1:3).

“They shall neither hunger nor thirst, neither heat nor sun shall strike them; for He who has mercy on them will lead them, even by the springs of water He will guide them” (Isaiah 49:10).

Heavenly Father, we yearn to be lavished in Your streams of water daily.
