“Indeed these are the mere edges of His ways, and how small a whisper we hear of Him!” Job 26:14a
Edges
A mini devotional
I have often stood at the edge of the ocean, toes digging deeper with each lap of saltwater rushing loose sand and foam over my feet. I listen for the sounds of life there: waves cresting, crashing; birds calling; breezes rushing in my ears.
I know very little about what goes on under the surface—but what I do know about it astounds me. I watch science and discovery and geographic-type programs that open the undersea world. These are things God sees and oversees every day. These things He made and hears, watches and controls.
“Undersea” is a teeming place, full of life, operating according to the system that originated in God’s wisdom. His system never fails to operate according to His sovereign care.
I can’t know it all. Even a brilliant oceanographer can’t know it all, because God’s ways are higher than ours. Yet the undersea life continues to operate within the limits God set.
So all I can do is stand on the brink—the edges of His ways—and listen for His whisper.
Mighty God, give us ears to hear, eyes to see, and hearts to know You—even if we can only stand and ponder at the edges of Your ways. Amen.
Lovely, thank you.
Love this! Thanks for the uplifting message!
