“You, O Lord, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light.” Psalm 18:28

Don’t Look Back!

As I enter a “new year” on this journey, the Lord has been directing my attention to look forward.  I shouldn’t look back at good times before this journey began—and I also shouldn’t look back at the hard times we’ve already been through. I must keep my eyes on the Lord, and keep looking forward to what He has for us—ultimately to spend eternity in His presence. God always leads us forward!

I think one of the biggest temptations the enemy brings along is to get us looking backwards—either longingly at good times we’ve had, or in fear of going through more hard times like what we’ve already experienced. God doesn’t want us to be looking over our shoulders.

As we keep our focus on Him, our wonderful Shepherd will hold our hand and guide us to the pastures He has for us. We may need to travel over some rocky ground. We may have some dark valleys to navigate through. We may have some rivers to get across. But He WILL be with us. He will guide us and help us.

I have no idea what is still ahead, but I trust the One who is guiding me! I need to keep looking forward as I enter this new year.

I don’t know what is ahead, but I’m looking to the Lord and moving forward with my hand in His.  Thank you for your prayers as we continue on this journey.

Lord, though we have many things upon which to look back longingly, may we ever keep our eyes on You and Your plans for our future and our hope. Amen.
