“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6 NKJV

Trust Is a Must

Taped to my computer screen is a small card that reads “Trust is a Must.” It is a reminder to trust the Lord completely and with abandon. I must not demand an explanation from Him, but relinquish my finite understanding to His great purpose. I will acknowledge Him in all my ways because He is God, and I am not. I trust Him to direct my path as I read His word.

“Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” Psalm 119:105 NKJV

If I had said in 2019 that in 2020 we would be experiencing a pandemic, would not be allowed to eat inside restaurants, be in a “lock-down” confined to our homes, and if we had to leave our home for any reason we must at all times wear a mask, and our “unessential” businesses would be shut down and travel not allowed, and our churches closed because churches were not considered “essential”, people would have laughed at such a preposterous idea, and would have thought that I was absolutely delusional. It is difficult to believe how fast the freedoms we once enjoyed every day could be removed in a heartbeat, and life as we knew it could be changed so quickly and so drastically.

Our only way forward is to trust in God. Turning our anxieties over to God may not be the easiest to do during troubled times. The scriptures below remind us that God is still good, still on the throne, still in charge. We must trust Him because He is able to deliver us. God’s got this!

“In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?” Psalm 56:4 NIV

“The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and He helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise Him.” Psalm 28:7 NIV

“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in You.” Isaiah 26:3 NIV

“Fear of man brings a snare, but one who trusts in the Lord will be exalted.” Proverbs 29:25 NASB

We must trust God and be strong and courageous. We are not to be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD our God will be with us wherever we go.  (Paraphrase of Joshua 1:9)  TRUST IS A MUST.

Thank You, Lord, that we can trust You because You have proven Yourself to be faithful and trustworthy even when we are not. Your mercy endures forever. Our trust is in You, Lord God.
