“The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.” Psalm 23:1-3

A Place of Rest

Walk His Way Revisited

Is your soul weary?

Are you feeling lost or confused about which way to go?

Do you feel broken, bruised, and dazed from a battle?

I’ve been in a weary place this year. But If I am being honest, God is showing me that, in part, my passion to do great things for Him has led me to this place of fatigue.

Sometimes we let passion rule and wisdom follow, and when we do, it’s easy to grab our swords and join battles He hasn’t called us to fight, or we may run up mountains He hasn’t asked us to climb. Then as we try to solve problems or find answers in our own strength and might, we become exhausted inside. And as a general rule, most women are usually better at “going” than “waiting.”

Jesus says in John 10:27 that His sheep “know His voice.” Sometimes our weariness is a result of not listening to or for His voice. Maybe there are other reasons that you feel weary today but if you find yourself relating to my heart in this, maybe you, like me, have gotten ahead of His steps.

His presence is a steady heartbeat that rhythmically directs our being—that is why we must abide in Him. He says in Isaiah 40:31, “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”

HE is the still water.

When I abide in Him, listen to His voice, wait on His lead, and rest in His presence, I have peace. Even if the battle is raging and the path seems unclear, He is my Shepherd and I shall not want.

Shepherd of my heart, thank You for Your presence that calms my soul—You are my still waters. Thank You for Your voice that calms the wild seas around me or within me—You are my peace Who has broken down every wall. God, thank You that You lead my steps and guide me. Thank You that You will steer me back to the path if I have  strayed off course. Thank You that You never leave me or forsake me. Be glorified through my life, God. Teach me to wait on You and to listen to You. Let Your voice be loudest. Give me wisdom to know when to “go”, and restraint when I need to wait on your lead. You are my Shepherd, I shall not want.
