“Let us know; let us pursue the knowledge of the LORD. His going forth is established as the morning; He will come to us like rain, like the latter and former rain to the earth.” Hosea 6:3 NKJV
Secured Favor
Tomorrow our daughter is getting married. An exciting time for our family and close friends; however, none of us will be attending her wedding—as her Mom, I won’t be with her in person to hug her, or share in the excitement of her getting ready—getting her hair styled, nails manicured, putting on her wedding dress—along with all the other preparation that goes along with wedding bliss. Her father will not have the privilege of walking our only daughter toward her groom, and I won’t have the privilege of sitting in the front row with tears of joy; her brothers won’t be there to show their protection.
As I ponder our daughter’s past relationships, I can see that God has now blessed her with a man that adores her and truly admires her for who she is; and best of all, demonstrates his true love for her. I have not met him nor spoken with him…as of yet. I only know what my daughter has shared of him—but her father and brother have personally met him, and that’s important that they feel good about him—and they do. I trust the Lord in her decision and share in her joy. I have raised her to the best of my ability along with daily prayer for her since she was in my womb, and I look forward to her new journey as they become one with all the ups and downs that transpire in a marriage relationship.
Our daughter has had many struggles in her life, as had the rest of us, and as a mom, I have had the privilege to come alongside her (by text or phone) and be with her in her struggles…her pain and her joy…and tomorrow, I will be with her by text (and photos), and by phone to share in the best day of her life!
Originally, we had planned to FaceTime her wedding, however, her wedding is on a beach in Oaxaca, Mexico, with no internet connection. Yes, during this pandemic, God has provided them with a beautiful flight, and a trip to another beautiful part of His creation. I can look forward to tomorrow because I can rest in God’s secured favor—His wisdom and continued goodness.
“And as the Redeemer was raised from the grave, so will He revive the hearts and hopes of all that trust in Him. The feeblest glimpse of hope in His Word is a sure earnest of increasing light and comfort, which shall be attended with purifying, comforting grace that makes fruitful” (Matthew Henry).
Lord, thank You for Your peace. We hold on to Your precious promises; forgive us when we question Your ways, and may we continue to rest in Your plans. Amen.
PS: After writing this devotional, I received the most beautiful wedding picture and had to share it with you!
