“For God is my witness, how greatly I long for you all with the affection of Jesus Christ.” Philippians 1:8

A New Year Letter to You

With today’s devotional, we begin our eigth year of writing to you each day in the hopes of encouraging, sharing, comforting, and fellowshiping with you on this journey with our Lord. We are sisters and partners, all parts of one Body, differing in gifts and talents, personalities and experiences, but all walking His way.

I want to start this new year off with a love letter, in the words and thoughts of Our Father towards you, as given to us in His Word, the Bible. If I could, I would write a personal letter to each of you, but I don’t know who you are. (Just so you know, it encourages me and the other writers to hear from you, though!)

You are beautiful beyond description, clothed in the righteousness of Christ, with the fragrance of Christ lingering upon you. You are His Bride and will, one day, sit with Him at His banqueting table at the Wedding Feast He has prepared for us. How He loves you!

You are gifted and useful, bearing fruit for Him. You have been cultivated and prepared for even greater works than in the past—you are headed for great things! Though at times it was so hard to suffer the losses and the growing pains of maturing, yet you discovered He was with you all the way and never left you alone. How He loves you!

You were drawn to Him by His own everlasting love and kindness. He has given you everything you need from His rich storehouse of treasures, so that you lack no good thing, and He will keep on giving. How He loves you!

You are indwelt by His own Spirit so you will have guidance, wisdom, understanding, counsel, knowledge, life, and strength. All the attributes of our Father dwell within His Holy Spirit, Whom He has given to you. How He loves you!

You were created, foreordained, chosen, called, justified, sanctified, made holy, made in His image, and given the mind of Christ. You were counted worthy to suffer for His sake. You are blessed with every spiritual blessing. How He loves you!

He has given you a place and a time on earth, that you might glorify Him. He knew you would. You please Him, you make Him happy. You are a blessing to Him. You are His joy. He dances and sings over you. How He loves you!

Oh ladies, do you believe it? Have you read for yourself that these things are true in His Word? If this new year finds you anywhere but solidly standing on the Rock of Christ, I beg you to get on your face before Him and make things right today.

I love you all with the affection of Christ,

The Editor,
