“Our lives are a Christ-like fragrance rising up to God.” 2 Corinthians 2:15 NLT
Christmas Fragrance
Do you love the smell of Christmas? Me too! You can enter a home and smell their Christmas tree, their cinnamon-scented pine cones, the fire in the fireplace, and the dinner cooking in the oven, and maybe brownies in the toaster oven. The fragrances saturate the air in the home.
One day when my husband came home from work, he smelled like chocolate, which told me what department he had been working in that day. When I would pick up my grandson from his job at Taco Bell, he got into the car smelling like a big taco. Later when he worked at Dairy Queen, he would smell like a burger, fries and a chocolate shake! (I added the chocolate shake). My daughter attended a pizza party as a senior in high school. She must have overdosed on garlic pizza because her skin emitted the fragrance of garlic for three days. Her entire bedroom smelled like a pizza parlor.
When we shopped at a Christmas tree lot, we came home with our clothing smelling like Christmas trees! We smell like those people or things that we have allowed into our lives.
What are we soaking our souls in these days while we wait for the storm to pass? Are we spending our time wisely? Or marking time until normalcy returns?
When we are with others do we emit the sweet smell of Jesus? Does the fragrance of His beauty linger behind everywhere we go? Do people feel sprinkled with love because of the fragrance of Jesus in us?
The presence of God in our life is like that. When we have spent time with Him, soaking in His Word, basking in His presence we emit the sweet fragrance of Jesus.
Lord, I want to be a Christ-like fragrance rising up to God. Please help me prioritize each day according to Your agenda for me, not my own, to accomplish Your will, not mine. Thank You for the fragrance of Your presence in our lives.
Awesome reminder, thank you. ❤️
Yes, this. I want to have the sweet fragrance of Jesus!
