Faithful
Walk His Way Revisited
It goes beyond all question or doubt that God is faithful. Throughout the ages, throughout all eternity, God is faithful. He is faithful to His Word. He is faithful to keep His covenant promises. His love ever endures. His patience does not falter. When all else fails, God remains faithful.
From the first response of our spirit to the day we see Him face to face, will we remain faithful to our faithful God? This becomes our testimony. This is the proving of our faith.
God is looking for faithfulness. He is looking for those He can trust with kingdom riches. He is looking for those He can trust to love and serve His people with a heart like His. He is looking for those who continue, who endure, who will suffer delay and yet persist in the very things He has called them to be and do. Matthew 24:45-46 says, “Who then is a faithful and wise servant, who his master made ruler over his household, to give them food in due season? Blessed is that servant whom his master, when he comes, will find so doing.” I want to be found “so doing.”
Jesus no longer walks the planet, yet He has not left us orphaned or abandoned. His Spirit is present. His Word is readily available. He has gone away for a time and left us in charge, so to speak. It baffles the angels. It baffles me. We are to steward the work, to look after the kingdom in His absence.
1 Corinthians 4:2 lays out what will be necessary for our task. “Moreover, it is required in stewards that one be found faithful.” What a high privilege to be entrusted with the things of the Most High.
What crazy plan of God is this to risk it all on the ones who fail and falter and are notoriously unfaithful! Yet He places His trust in us and supplies all we need to be victorious, overcoming, and faithful. It is possible to imitate the God we love, this One who has esteemed us so highly. He is the template. Faithfulness is a fruit of His own Spirit (Galatians 5:22).
In tomorrow’s devotional we will see how we, too, can learn to be faithful.
Faithful Father, our heart’s desire is to one day hear You say, “Well done, good and faithful servant. Enter into the joy of your Lord.” May we remain hopelessly devoted to You until we see You face to face. Amen.
