“Who has directed the Spirit of the Lord, or as His counselor has taught Him? With whom did He take counsel, and who instructed Him, and taught Him in the path of justice? Who taught Him knowledge, and showed Him the way of understanding?” Isaiah 40:13-14

He Is Free

The answer to the questions posed in the Scripture above is NO ONE. No one has directed the Spirit of the Lord. No one has taught Him as His counselor. He took counsel with no one, and no one instructed Him. No one taught Him how to be just. No one taught Him knowledge. No one showed Him the way of understanding.

God is free. He needs nothing, and He relies on no one. Since He has perfect knowledge within Himself, there is nothing new for Him to learn. When we pray, we do not inform Him of things He does not know, and we would show ourselves to be fools if we tried to tell Him what He should do about our situation.

God is complete within Himself. We do not complete Him. We do not add anything to Him. He needs nothing. If He was hungry, He would not tell us—He is free from the need for us to give anything to Him so He can continue to exist. He is free from needing our counsel—He already knows all things and possesses all wisdom.

He is a completely free Being. He is free from time constraints—He is outside of time. He is free from the need for atonement, for He cannot sin. He is free from any chain, bondage, or stronghold—nothing can bind Him. He is free from any influence of the enemy. He is free from having to act on our whims, because He is on His throne and He does whatever He wants.

No wall can hold Him in. No event can distract Him from His purposes. No army can thwart His plan. No one forces Him to change His mind. No one tells Him who to choose. He is not influenced by wind, or waves, or riches, or intelligence, or stubborn, willful people.

He is free to give or to take, to create or to destroy, to come or to go, to manifest or to hide, to withhold or to be generous, to enslave or set loose, to send rain or sun, to exalt or lay low, to allow success or failure, to bless or to curse. He is free of the need for approval.

He has complete freedom. This is our glorious God! Magnify His Name, for there is no other like Him.

Father, words fail us to bring You the glory You deserve. We bow before You, for You are free to do as You please…and what pleased You was to call us to be Your friends, Your servants, Your bride, and Your children. We scarcely can take it in.
