“To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven…” Ecclesiastes 3:1

A Change of Seasons

Walk His Way Revisited
First Posted October, 2014

First thing in the morning I opened the patio door to a breeze with a slight chill. Immediately a smile crossed my face and thoughts raced through my mind in a matter of seconds… AUTUMN IS HERE; that means big comfy sweaters and fires in the fireplace and soup for dinner; it means beautiful leaves and Thanksgiving is just around the corner and the kids will be home and… oh, this is my favorite time of year! I say this with every hint of a season change.

The truth is, every season is my favorite, because every season holds something special and unique unto itself! I know the day the weather changes just what to expect in that new season.

But when the seasons in my life change… that is a whole different story. I enter every major life change with fear and trepidation, uncertain of my future… and yet, why? God has proven Himself to be faithful in the seasons here on earth. Autumn cools the scorching summer sun and brings beautiful color to an otherwise brown landscape. Winter brings rain to give the parched trees a drink and cover their boughs with a sparkling white snow. Spring brings new life to the plants as blossoms form and the air smells of fresh cut grass… and summer’s sun brings long days and warm nights for us to enjoy. God has proven Himself faithful in the seasons. We always know just what to expect.

So too in our lives, every life change can be entered with confidence that God, who has proven Himself faithful in the “earthly seasons,” will also be faithful to us. We can replace fear and trepidation with thoughts of His faithfulness to us the last time the season changed for us. We can be certain of our future because of how God met us previously. “A time for every purpose under heaven.”

Open the door today to the reminders of His faithfulness to you. Expect what He has done for you in the past He will do for you in your future. Seasons change, but our God remains the same.

Lord, may the praise on our lips be of Your faithfulness to us. Amen.
