“The hearing ear and the seeing eye, the Lord, has made them both.” Proverbs 20:12
Learn From a Sled Dog
Part 2
Walk His Way Revisited

(If you missed yesterday’s devotional, we suggest you go back and read it before continuing with today’s devotional.)
We could learn a lot from a sled dog.
We could learn…
- …to hear our Leader’s voice above all other noise. “I will hear what God the Lord will speak…” (Psalm 85:8)
- …to follow His leading. “Teacher, I will follow You wherever You go.” (Matthew 8:19)
- …to persevere through severe hardship—regardless of the weather! “You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.” (2 Timothy 2:3)
- …to be fearless. “Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer…” (Revelation 2:10a)
- …to lead by example. “For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you.” (John 13:15)
- …not to be timid. “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1:7)
- …to be loyal. “That good thing which was committed to you, keep by the Holy Spirit who dwells in us.” (2 Timothy 1:14)
- …to obey joyfully and wholeheartedly. “…therefore you shall be careful to observe them with all your heart and with all your soul.” (Deuteronomy 26:16b)
- …to encourage one another. “Strengthen the weak hands, and make firm the feeble knees.” (Isaiah 35:3)
And what can we learn from the master and trainer—our Lord?
- He knows what is in us from our youth. “Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them.” (Psalm 139:16)
- He may choose to use the runt. “…not many mighty… are called; …but God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty.” (1 Corinthians 1:26-27)
- He will prepare us for what is to come. “Now He who has prepared us for this very thing is God…” (2 Corinthians 5:5)
- He knows what is on “the other side of the log.”“Now we are sure that You know all things, and have no need that anyone should question You.” (John 16:30a)
- He will take care of us when we are hurt or needy. “… And not one of them is forgotten before God…. Do not fear therefore, you are of more value than many sparrows.” (Luke 12:6-7)
- He may whisper His Words to us. “…and after the fire, a still, small voice.” (1 Kings 19:12)
- He will give us a new name. “… To him who overcomes… I will give him a white stone, and on the stone a new name written which no one knows except him who receives it.” (Revelation 2:17)
- He will help us to finish the race. “…let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith…” (Hebrews 1b-2a)
In the end, this is the main lesson: Don’t give up. Keep our eyes and ears fixed on Jesus. He started us in life, He trained us for the race, and He will help us finish well.
Jesus, we look only to You for what we need to finish the race set before us.
Thank you. This devotion.helped me get back to Him in this time of so many distractions, frustrations and confusion.
Sometimes those familiar words just tickle my soul.. Thank you, Lord!
Amen!
