“Then the LORD said to me, ‘You have seen well, for I am watching over My Word to perform it.’” Jeremiah 1:12 NASB
New Year, New Word
I’ve shared my Happy Planner before. It is a record of things done, trinkets of love that have come across my way, and a place to write scripture daily. Recently I’ve been preparing one for the new year and it reminded me to think over the past year and the many blessings it has brought and to consider what the new year will bring. Some people select a word and a scripture to bless the year with or to work on a certain attribute they’d like to develop in themselves so, naturally as I’m decorating the newest book, I’ve been thinking of my word for 2020.
Delight was the word chosen for 2019. “Delight yourself in the LORD; and He will give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 37:4 was the scripture. To be honest, as the year went by, I don’t think I meditated on the scripture much, but God is so faithful to His Word that He still gave me desires of my heart.
I think I’d like to see more joy in my life, so I’m going to select JOY for 2020. “I have told you this so that My joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete” (John 15:11). What will you choose? Would you share your word and scripture in the comments to encourage others? I encourage you to get a little book, folder, or box and start collecting the blessings as they come across your path this new year. Keep those notes, cards, pressed flowers—whatever is a treasure to you—in that journal and see that God will perform His Word in your life.
“Father God, we surrender the new year to You. You know all that 2020 holds in store for each of us. Give us Your Word for our lives and may we see the daily treasures You have purposed to remind us to thank You, bless You and obey You this year. Amen.”
Great idea, thank you!
I choose the word “forgiven”! “As far as the east is from the west,so far has He removed our transgressions from us.” Psalm 103:12 Thanks for writing!
I choose “Salvation” for the friends and family I have been praying for that need to know Jesus as their Savior!
I am choosing the word “Trust”. I want to learn to trust the Lord more in ALL things. And how to walk in trusting Him.
I choose “Trust” I want to learn to trust the Lord more, and walk in obedience.
The Lord had already chosen the word “Trust” for me for this next year. In looking up Scripture Psalm 143:8 ESV spoke to me:
Let me hear in the morning of your steadfast love,
for in you I trust.
Make me know the way I should go,
for to you I lift up my soul.
