“The God of my strength, in whom I will trust; my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold and my refuge; my Savior, You save me from violence.” 2 Samuel 22:3
The Letter of the Day is S
The Lord recently gave our family spiritual breakthrough in multiple areas. As my husband and I were giving thanks and praying for continued protection and victory, we discussed that we are only as sick as our secrets. We talked about Satan trying to separate us and single us out. We discussed how we can stand in victory because of the saving grace of God.
My husband said, “The letter of the day is S” (bringing back Sesame Street days and smiles to our faces). We went on to say how thankful we are to have a Savior who keeps us safe, and by the power of the Spirit we are set free.
As I was looking up scripture to fit my “S” theme I was amazed at all the names of the Lord that begin with the letter S: Strength, Shield, Salvation, Stronghold, Son,and Shepherd. There are also the ones following His name Jehovah: Shaddai, Shalom, Sabbath and Shammah.
He saves, sanctifies, and searches our hearts. Psalm 139:17-18 (NET) uses sand to tell us how much He thinks about us: “How difficult it is for me to fathom Your thoughts about me, O God! How vast is their sum total! If I tried to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand…” Picture just one seashore or desert and try to wrap your head around that!
Luke 2:11-14 (ESV) announces to shepherds keeping watch over their flocks: “For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, ‘Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom He is pleased!’”
In Matthew 2:1-2, a star guided the wise men to Jesus. “Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, saying, ‘Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him.’”
What “S” words describing Him, His characteristics, His creation or His saving grace has He brought to your mind this morning? Please share below if you would like.
“Father God, thank You for the silly yet sacred ways You remind us of who You are and how much we mean to You. May we never stop seeking and worshipping You. Amen.”
Beautiful. Softly corrects, sweet, sorrow comforter.
Good inspiration for the Holiday Spirit!
Great way to discuss our Lord and Savior with the family!
Singularly AMAZING ♡
He brings a smile, several times a day. I feel so blessed.
