“A good person leaves an inheritance for their children’s children, but a sinner’s wealth is stored up for the righteous.” Proverbs 13:22 NIV
Another Lesson From the Castle
I recently wrote about visiting the Hearst Castle. William Randolph Hearst at one time owned about 250,000 acres along the coast and hills of the San Simeon area. Currently it is about 80,000 acres and an agreement was made in 2005 to preserve the undeveloped character of the area. After seeing the views and beautiful landscape there, I’m glad that the agreement was made. The castle and the surrounding area is part of the Hearst family legacy and it got me thinking about my own legacy.
Legacy: a gift of property, especially personal property, as money, by will; a bequest/anything handed down from the past, as from an ancestor or predecessor.
My family isn’t famous or extremely wealthy. We live comfortably with our needs met and my husband and I have our affairs in order with a family trust so our children are set up with the earthly things; however, I want to leave a legacy that is greater than this.
The song Only Jesus from Casting Crowns says all my heart wants for my children and their children.
Make it count, leave a mark, build a name for yourself
Dream your dreams, chase your heart, above all else
Make a name the world remembers
But all an empty world can sell is empty dreams
I got lost in the light when it was up to me
To make a name the world remembers
But Jesus is the only name to remember
And I, I don’t want to leave a legacy
I don’t care if they remember me
Only Jesus
And I, I’ve only got one life to live
I’ll let every second point to Him
Only Jesus
All the kingdoms built, all the trophies won
Will crumble into dust when it’s said and done
‘Cause all that really mattered
Did I live the truth to the ones I love?
Was my life the proof that there is only One
Whose name will last forever?*
“Father, the only thing in this life that will last is knowing You through Your Son Jesus. May I be a vessel to point everyone I love and everyone I come in contact with today to Him. Amen.”

I, too, have a living trust set up for my sons.
Being the black sheep of the family, I was surprised when my Dad passed and I was given an equal portion of the inheritance which was a wonderful blessing even if it wasn’t great wealth.
My greatest desire is that my son’s will know the Savior and His power in their lives, but I hope they are blessed with the thought that Mom cared.
Thank you for this reminder this morning.
❤✝️ thanks for the reminder!!!😘😘😊🤩🤩
Another way to leave a legacy is journaling future generations about your faith in Jesus, your relationship with Him, your prayers to Him, His answers to you, your love for Him and His love for you. Leaving a written legacy can be passed down from generation to generation, and hopefully, your faith will have a ripple effect on the faith of those reading your words about the Word.
