“We fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” 2 Corinthians 4:18
Weighty Decisions
As I’ve been praying and seeking the Lord for direction for the decisions I’m making, the process has become heavy and weighty. My heart has felt burdened down with the bigness of the decisions.
A few days ago as I was praying, I felt the Lord was speaking to me that I’ve become too focused on the decisions…but I need to keep my focus on Him. I was becoming off-balance in my focus. I remembered that Sarah Young said, “Gaze at Me; glance at problems.” I think I was beginning to get it backwards.
The decisions are big ones, and the weight of having to come up with answers are constantly intruding on my thoughts. I have chosen instead to try and keep my thoughts, my attention, my focus on the Lord—while lifting up my need for answers to Him. It may seem like a subtle shift, but it’s an important one!
“We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you” (2 Chronicles 20:12).
When my mind strays to the decisions I’m facing and the problems I’m having to work through, I get my focus back on who God is, and humbly ask His help with all I’m facing. It truly helps to look at the hard things in light of how awesome God is!
Thank you for your prayers that help me through this time too.
“Father, we know it is right to gaze at You but merely glance at our problems. Help us to see Your glory and beauty, Your perfection and power, Your majesty and holiness. May we desire You even more than we desire resolutions to our problems. Give us eyes to see things with Your perspective. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
I am beginning to remember to say ‘Not my will, but thine be done.’ I always ask for the problem/situation to ‘go away’ or change, but if not that to give me the strength or wisdom to get through it.
Blessings on your journey, Sally.
What an excellent way to look at things!
I understand this so well, I received this message recently ” You will know what to do when the time comes” Worrying about future events does me no benefit — for God is in control. He always has been. When I goof up — it takes Him a while – but things always seem to work themselves out for His good. I’ve finally learned this — I must wait upon the Lord.
Still keeping You and Floyd in prayer. The Lord works in mysterious ways.
When we keep our focus on Him, an amazing thing happens. The answer appears clearly.
