“But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to the Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees you in secret will reward you openly.” Matthew 6:6

Secret Place

After many tears, wailing, and groans from somewhere deep inside me, I rise from my knees and wash the tears from my face. I will continue going through the motions of a “normal” day as a “normal” person. My heart, however, stayed in my private room of prayer on its knees. While my physical body is “on location” in the physical world, my heart is in a different place. My heart is hidden in the shadow of the Almighty God, curled up under the protection of His wings. God’s “secret place” is a real place. Perhaps it is the only place for me today.

“Whoever dwells in the shelter (secret place) of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty” (Psalm 91:1).

I am thankful for a God who hears our heart’s cries, understands our indistinguishable groanings, and bottles our tears with compassion and mercy.

“You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected my tears in Your bottle. You have recorded each one in Your book” (Psalm 56:8 NLT).

I have begged, pleaded and cried out to my Abba Father for my heart’s desire. He has heard my groans and understands the words of my heart.

“Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words” (Romans 8:26 ESV).

Now I choose to leave my heart, my loved one, in His loving care and trust the goodness of God to care for my precious one.

“The LORD will perfect that which concerns me; Thy mercy O LORD, endures forever; forsake not the works of Thine own hands” (Psalm 138:8 KJV).

“My love is finite and Yours is infinite. I relinquish my loved one to You, my LORD and my GOD, for Your love is unconditional, everlasting, and full of mercy and goodness. I will praise You, O God, for You are worthy of all my praise. Help me to trust You as I pray Your Word with my loved one’s name inserted. Please help my loved one to overcome while You fight the battle. You said that the battle belongs to You.” “This is what the LORD says: ‘Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast number, for the battle is not yours, but God’s’” (2 Chronicles 20:15 HCS).

“I choose to remain with You in Your secret place and trust You, Abba Father, because You are good. Thy will be done.”
