“But David pursued, he and four hundred men; for two hundred stayed behind, who were so weary that they could not cross the Brook Besor.” 1 Samuel 30:10
Gracious Giving
Part 1—A mini devotional
I know many of you, like me, can become weary in this life. There are so many things to be “tired of,” and there is always more work to do, not to mention the emotional aspect of sometimes just feeling “so done” with life.
Good news! God cares about our weakness and weariness, as we can see in His many promises to graciously give us rest. A life hidden in Christ isn’t meant to be tiresome.
In today’s Scripture, David’s men had been fighting battles, and journeying, and hiding in caves. Two hundred of them were, at one point, just too weak and weary to keep going. He allowed them to stay back and rest, while the stronger ones kept moving.
David was a man after God’s own heart—and isn’t this God’s heart for us all? We are not only “allowed” to rest, but commanded to do so.
If you are tired and weary, rest in the Lord.
“Father, thank You for Your rest. Amen.”
Amen!
Thank you for the reminder. So true!
AMEN
