“Jesus said to them, ‘Fill the water pots with water.’ And they filled them up to the brim. And He said to them, ‘Draw some out now, and take it to the master of the feast.’ And they took it.” John 2:7-8
Acceptable Gifts
A Mini Devotional
A wedding. Celebration. Creation of a new family. Rejoice!
Wait. We’re out of wine! We can’t rejoice without wine!
His mother, Mary, says we shouldn’t panic. Jesus is here. He’ll tell us what to do.
Fill the water pots to the tippy-top. Good job. Now take some to the feast master. Does the new wine pass his inspection? Does this mere human approve of a miracle wrought by the Son of God?
Imagine the absurdity: Mortal being, will you accept the perfect offering that is given to you by the hand of Almighty God? Or will you reject it and turn away?
Is the new wine acceptable? How about the new life He offers? How about any other gift He gives, any decision He makes, any word He speaks? Is it enough?
His gifts are incomparable. Have we thanked Him?
“Thank You for the gift of the unsearchable riches in Christ. Forgive us for ever looking elsewhere.”
Short (mini) but Powerful! Thank you!
Never looked at it that way, but what a beautiful example and display of His love for me/us. Love.
Amen
Thank you God for your gifts you give me everyday. Help me to accept them realizing they are from Your hand!
I see the work of a poet with a heart for God and a gift for us.
Thank you.
