“…And it happened when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat. Then the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city.” Joshua 6:20
Walls Fall Down
Yesterday there was a very high, thick wall between someone I love and me. But then I watched something incredible happen. I watched God tear down that wall in an instant. In short, it was a miracle. Though this relational wall was not something we could physically see, it was just as real as the wall of Jericho, and it was not possible to tear it down in our own human strength. I did not know what to do. But I have prayed and listened to God’s instructions, and God did the rest. Today, as I write this, every last brick of that wall has been displaced. The way forward is now straight in front of us.
I am not going into detail because my details are as specific to me as the details of Jericho were specific to the Israelites, and as specific as your own details are to you. God intimately knows and cares about each one. He knows the only way that those walls are going to come down. There may be instructions to follow. But God still breaks down walls.
When we see miracles in our lives, let’s not forget to praise God for them and thank Him. Let’s not forget to take in the wonder of what we have experienced. Then, we must walk straight ahead. We must burn down the enemy’s fortresses. We must only salvage the priceless treasures in that place that have been consecrated to the LORD.
“But they burned the city and all that was in it with fire. Only the silver and gold, and the vessels of bronze and iron, they put into the treasury of the house of the LORD” (Joshua 6:24).
This last instruction is very important. We must never rebuild it. “Then Joshua charged them at that time, saying, ‘Cursed be the man before the LORD who rises up and builds this city Jericho…’” (Joshua 6:26a).
God is still in control, and nothing is impossible for Him. When we acknowledge Him in all of our ways, (Proverbs 3:6) He will straighten the path in front of us, even if it means that walls must first be leveled, and destruction maintained. For if we do not maintain the destruction that God has miraculously ordained, the enemy will creep back in and rebuild. May it never be.
“Dear heavenly Father, we praise You for Your supernatural power. You are not subject to the laws of nature, and You are working everything out on our behalf. Please help us to follow Your specific directions and never rebuild the evil strongholds from which You have saved us. May the next step be straight in front of us this day. In Jesus’ almighty Name, Amen.”
With God everything is possible. Amen ??❤️??
