“But I will sing of your praise! Yes I will sing aloud of your mercy in the morning. For you have been my defense and refuge in the day of trouble. To You, O my strength, I will sing praises.” Psalm 59:16-17

New Day Song

I love the springtime! I woke up this morning with windows open to the sound of birds of all different voices boldly singing their choruses. There’s a definite change that comes when the reality of winter being gone is realized and creation breaks forth in splendor. Wild flowers show their brilliant colors, the grasses of all different shades of green sparkle in the sunlight, the world is alive with renewed hope and destiny.

I feel the same way. There’s something about the spring that awakens new hope and song in my heart. Renewed vision and energy, the reality of the hope. The thought of, “Yes Lord, I will put on my big girl pants; I can do this (in You).”

Back to the birds—I love their bold songs of glorious determination to get their message out. They are compelled because they do what they are created to do!! I wish I could be so bold in the purpose God has for my life. He has given us His Holy Spirit to guide and direct and assist our every thought and move—we are definitely equipped to accomplish all He has purposed, so why do I get caught up in the mundane-ness and repetitiveness of the day-to-day chores at home, work, etc.

God has given me (and us) an adventure in Him to live out each day—to start the morning (and continue through the day) with a song in my heart and soul, to be spontaneous to the Spirit’s leading and voice.

The first step always is getting in prayer and the Word to set my reality in Him and then step into it (and stay there). Being reminded that our Savior loves us so deeply more than we can even imagine grabs my heart and compels me to bask in His presence and joy! Yes, His joy—He enjoys us! With this focus set on Him—as Psalm 121:1-2 says, “I will lift up my eyes to the hill—from whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord, Maker of heaven and earth.” I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me—those things He has purposed for me today.

In your day when the crisis and/or distractions arise, reset again in His love and glory. A quick prayer or Word, or sharing a Scripture or God-given experience, will turn the enemy’s purpose for failure into triumph in Christ! The same power that raised Jesus from the dead lives in us! Remember the bird’s song compelled by purpose.

“Dear Lord, thank You for Your magnificent love that gives us hope for a fresh start and the examples in nature that remind us of Your renewal and purpose. May we be compelled in Your love and purpose today to enjoy You and accomplish all You have planned. Amen.”
