“You send forth Your Spirit, they are created; and You renew the face of the earth.” Psalm 104:30
Spring’s Dance
I was having a rough morning, and I knew with all my heart that instead of wallowing in self-pity and rehearsing my woes, I needed to usher in victory with praise. I decided to put on worship music. In the past, that had worked wonders in changing my attitude.
But as I went to find just the right songs, I heard a meadowlark calling its springtime greeting across the field, and I stilled myself to listen. I began to hear doves cooing and breezes sighing in the pines. The unmistakable tapping of a woodpecker came to my ears.
The more I paid attention, the more I realized the sounds and sights of God’s creation giving Him praise. The rejoicing sun held forth its life-giving warmth; spring lambs danced with abandon across green meadows; horses ran in unbridled, powerful joy. Hawks soared on drafts with gladness. Buds on the trees began to burst, unfurling bright green leaves.
I could smell newly mown grasses. Butterflies silently flitted among blooms. Everything seemed to rock and sway in a choreographed production, with all the dancers and actors in shiny, sequined costumes. All gave glory to God.
I listened and watched as God’s creation praised Him. My own heart was lifted to the heavenlies as I pondered how lesser creatures bring Him glory just by doing what they were made to do. Victory in my circumstances was ushered in by the mere act of worshiping Him alongside the sights and sounds of all He has provided.
Oh my soul, be lifted up! Look downward no more, for my God has visited me!
“Oh Father, how You love us! We are surrounded by Your goodness every day. Open our eyes, that we may truly see. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
Amen. So uplifting. Beauty & goodness abound & is all around! Hallelujah
