“But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement of our peace was upon Him and by His strips we are healed.” Isaiah 53:5
Glorious Solution
I love Easter and I love the springtime, the fresh beauty of God’s creation everywhere. Bright landscapes color our lives more vividly than any other season. On my walk this morning I was overcome with praise and worship. I wanted to stop and sit in a field of wild flowers and stay. But life stuff beckons me back home.
Easter also reminds us of the reality of the suffering our Savior experienced beyond any of our own comprehension. All this for love. Like the song “Beautiful Name”* says: “My sin was great, but love was greater, what can separate me now?”
I desire a greater reality to know why Jesus exposed Himself so radically in view of Who He is and all He has done, and does, in the universe. Why would the Creator humble Himself to this extent? “He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross” (Philippians 2:8b). It seems incomprehensible, yet He gently draws and stirs us to this place of wonder as we explore and experience His love and grace deeper still.
When I picture His unimaginable suffering my heart is torn and wrenched. It’s hard to face the tremendous price that was needed for my sin. It isn’t okay to just blow it off—I need a solution. It needs to be rectified. I need to come uncovered and exposed before Him (daily) and allow Him to wash and redirect me for His purpose and glory. Because His lovingkindness is better than life—my lips will praise Him! He gave it all for us. This is serious. It’s the glorious solution!
We know what happened on Easter Sunday. Jesus was victorious over sin and death! The grave is empty and sin has been defeated! When we come before our wonderful Lord presenting ourselves to Him in humble adoration and reverence, confessing who He is and who we aren’t, He gently picks us up and restores all that has been broken! He replaces our heart of stone and gives us a new heart of flesh! New, refreshed desires, a willingness to live only for Him no matter the cost, one day at time. Nothing else matters. We can walk and live in obedience in our daily tasks and relationships, or the bigger life and hard “comfort zone” changes He calls us to—all for His glory and our joy.
Because of Easter we have a spring in our step and we can share this truth with our unsaved world with joy unexplainable except through the expressed outflow of our relationship with Him. Why would we want a dying person to miss out? Jesus doesn’t.
“Lord Jesus, thank You for suffering and dying for our sin. Thank You for restoration in your love and grace. I pray we can realize Your delight in us and share it through Your empowering with those You put in our lives. Thank You for Easter, Jesus!”
The Lord has given us this great summary of the Gospel message all in one devotional! Thank you for listening to His Word to you for today and writing it for us.
A beautiful haleilujah to Easter!
He is alive active and living in us!!!
