“Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, The LORD, the Creator of the earth neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He has given power to the weak, and to those who have no might, He increases strength!” Isaiah 40:28

Serious

As the Scripture asks the questions, do you not know? Have you not heard? We have heard and we do know—but do we truly believe? Do I really trust? His understanding is endless and He longs to empower the weak and weary with His strength and purpose! How can I neglect such a gift?

Our time with the Lord is the most important time spent in the day. We need to pay attention and take His Word and instructions serious. We need to take His caring direction and wisdom seriously. Without this we are “clanging gongs and noisy cymbals.” We need to be filled with the Spirit—(I’m talking to myself).

So why do we think we can do it on our own and neglect our precious time with God daily? Or even worse, when we spend time with the Lord, do we go off about our day forgetting His encouragement through His Word and prayer and go into “automatic”? His Word promises to give us His power and strength. I desperately need this each day.

Precious time with the Lord draws us to love and to enjoy discovering the mysteries revealed by His Spirit in His Word, and captivates our hearts, which draws us into His loving arms. We need to allow His Words to wash over our sin-crusted hearts, break up our fallow ground, soften and wash us thoroughly pure as His Word says in 1 John 1:9: “If we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Then He gently convinces our souls that His truth is light and solution and peace. He turns our confusion to understanding. He shows us that our preconceived ways are empty and weak in and of themselves.

Like a fresh drink of water, there is nothing better than the sweet fellowship of my loving Savior whose loving kindness is better than life itself!

Paul exhorts us in Ephesians 5:16 that we are to “redeem the time for the days are evil.” I do desire to be ready in season and out. And I know that His Word and time in prayer are the way God has made in my life to prepare each day to accomplish His will and direction in my life. I need to take serious this precious time and gift.

“Father, we do know, and we have heard, and we need to continually hear so we will keep knowing. Help us to realize the importance of our time with You as water to the soul and not neglect such a privilege. Thank You for forgiveness when we get distracted. Thank You for giving us understanding and wisdom in our confusion, and strength when we are weak. In Jesus Name, Amen.”
