“I will behave wisely in a perfect way. Oh, when will You come to me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart.” Psalm 101:2

Home Life vs. Public Life

A Mini Devotional

We’ve all heard the expression “putting on a church face.” It describes putting our best foot forward in behavior and appearance only when we’re at church, no matter how we behave in private.

But if our heart is wrong, then when we leave church, the mask comes off. We are back to being “ourselves.” This is hypocrisy; we should take inventory and see if this is true of us. The Spirit will gladly reveal our double-mindedness to us if we ask Him.

The psalmist declared that he would walk within his house with a perfect (blameless) heart. When no one is watching, our heart before the Lord still matters.

“Who is wise? Let him understand these things. Who is prudent? Let him know them. For the ways of the Lord are right; the righteous walk in them, but transgressors stumble in them.” Hosea 14:9

“Reveal to us by Your all-knowing Spirit whether we are living in hypocrisy. We desire to have pure, blameless hearts before You.”
