Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His passions fail not. They are new every morning: great is Your faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22-23

His Great Faithfulness

I woke up this morning singing “Great Is Your Faithfulness.” As I rolled out of bed, I continued to sing (silently) and felt joy and blessing at the assurance of God’s loving care and provision in my life. I even pulled an old hymnal off the bookshelf and found this good hymn and sang aloud. Great is God’s faithfulness!

He does not change. He does not move. He does not fail. Every word He speaks is true. Every promise He makes, He will keep. There is no shadow of turning with our God. He will always be who He always has been.

Nature declares His faithfulness in the unceasing movements of sun, moon, and stars, in the changing of the seasons, and in the yearly migrations of birds and animals. These testify of His order, His care, and His reliability.

He has promised forgiveness that does not disappoint. He grants a peace that endures through the calamities of life. His Spirit fills us and abides with us. He never leaves us or abandons us. He showers unforeseen joy upon us. He counsels and guides us. He is the dependable source of our strength and He is our bright hope for all the tomorrows to come. He pours out innumerable blessings. Great is His faithfulness!

In my own life He has been faithful to me when I was not faithful to Him. He has stood by me when no one else did. He has met me in crisis and fears. He has upheld me in times of testing. When I took on things I did not think possible, He showed up to make the impossible a reality. He is my bedrock. He has heard my prayers and wiped away my tears. Great is God’s faithfulness!

“And the heavens will praise Your wonders, O Lord; Your faithfulness also in the assembly of the saints” (Psalm 89:5).

Father, You are ever faithful, ever true. I declare Your faithfulness. May we live well in this land and feed on Your faithfulness. Amen.
