“Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.” Jeremiah 33:3

Call Me

“Don’t bother calling me!” I tell my family when I’m working because I can’t answer my personal phone. However, in this verse the God of the universe says, “Call Me.” Wait! He wants me to call Him? He’s not too busy to take my call? Whoa!

Back when I was in high school a boy said he asked me out on a date because he knew that I would do all the talking. Not only does God want me to call Him, and He will answer me, but He’s got things to say! Great and mighty things! Ok, that certainly is NOT a description of most of what I fill the air with.

I looked up the Hebrew word for answer (‘anah) and one of the ways to translate it is “pay attention.” That thrilled the little girl’s heart that’s still deep inside me. I used to say, “Pay attention to me, Daddy.” My mother used to say that I should have inscribed on my tombstone, “MAY I HAVE YOUR ATTENTION PLEASE? Thank you!”

Here God is inviting me into an intimate experience with Him, to listen, respond, and share with me, His beloved daughter. Is that my heart’s desire? Do I often let the worries of this world distract me from answering His invitation? Could there be some evil plot trying to keep me disconnected from my loving, heavenly Father? Do I have the time to make a quick call to hear important things? Could it make a difference in what I do today? Could it make a difference in my relationships? Could it refresh my weary, overly busy soul?

The answer to all these is YES!

Let’s make that call. We have a direct line to the Creator. It’s a free call and the line is never busy.

“Precious heavenly Father, thank You for loving me and wanting to speak with me. Thank You that You are patiently waiting to declare important revelations to me. Help me to call out to You. I need You. I need to hear what You have to say. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
