“The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in Him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers.” Colossians 1:15-17

 Laminated in Jesus

Today’s Scripture sounds like being laminated in Jesus. By the definition of laminate:

He is holding us together, making us stronger to endure more pressure; firmly united material; bonded and compressed under heat to improve stability; to insulate and protect; to become a permanently assembled object, sealed by heat, pressure or adhesives. I especially love the parts where we will be stronger to “endure more pressure” and “sealed by heat”! Good to know that He has prepared us to face present and future trials.

In a Louie Giglio DVD entitledHow Great is Our God, we learned a similar word: Laminin. Laminin is described as a protein that “holds the body together” like glue, and is in the shape of a cross! It is defined by Webster’s medical dictionary as a glycoprotein connective tissue and cell adhesion. In other words, glue.

God designed us in the components of His tissue, glued together by laminin: cell adhesion molecules. Can you say “fearfully and wonderfully made”?  Without cell adhesion, we would literally fall apart. How interesting that God in His creation of us used little reminders of the cross of Christ throughout our bodies to hold our organs and cells together. Colossians 1:15-17 ends with “in Him all things hold together.” Jesus is literally the glue that holds everything together! God is so amazing.

Whatever we may think of God and His design of laminin, the truth found in Colossians 1:17 does not change even if laminin was not in the shape of a cross. God’s Word states that Christ holds all things together. The Bible leaves us no room to doubt that God cares about every sparrow that falls to the ground, the widow, the orphan, and the homeless. He does not lose track of you. While He sustains the universe by His mighty word of power, He watches over His children with infinite Fatherly love, patience, and care.

Rest in the fact that those who have chosen Christ are hidden in Him, and laminated,  firmly united, and bonded in Christ where you are strengthened and protected so nothing can harm you. Remember, nothing can snatch you out of His hand (John 10:28).

“Lord, before You created us, You knew all things and designed our bodies with tiny crosses that literally keep us glued together, reminding us that Jesus is the One Who truly holds us together with the power of His Word. So when I feel I am falling apart, I will remember that You, Jesus, hold me together. I am laminated to You permanently—forever. You are so amazing, You take my breath away, awesome God.”
