He stared for a moment and then said, “I look free-diculous.”

Most women, on any given day, are unhappy with their external appearance. We have all looked in the mirror and felt “free-diculous.” Man looks at the external, but God looks at the heart. If God is most concerned with the appearance of our heart, then we need to ask ourselves the question…what am I doing to adorn my heart?

We spend countless hours choosing the perfect outfit, hairstyle, jewelry, and don’t get me started about the perfect shoes and purse!!! But how much time am I spending to “outfit” my heart? Does God see beauty, honesty, strength, and courage when He looks at my heart? When he looks on my heart, does He see hours spent in the Word, prayer, service to others, devotion to Him and Him alone? It is a sobering thought.

If I committed to half the amount of time adorning my heart as I spend adorning my external appearance, how different it may look to God. God isn’t asking us to stop caring or bathing or being the beautiful women He fashioned us to be…He just wants us to know that He is looking past everything on the outside to see what is on the inside.

Our mothers told us beauty comes from within, and they were right. While you can’t change the shape of your eyes, the length of your legs or your shoe size, you can adorn your heart! Look in the mirror today and know that however “free-diculous” you may feel, God sees your beauty!

Father, remind me of where true beauty is found.
