We know that just from looking in the mirror, don’t we?

It is interesting that, although all of creation is subjected to the futility of existing in a state of continual decomposition, God still promises new life. Babies are born. Spring brings new life of every sort. Warm days follow winter’s cold, giving us all hope. Depression gives way to joy once again. A dead seed falls to the ground, germinates, and grows.

The process of deterioration is truly temporary, because God provides deliverance! Romans 8:21 tells us that when mankind is redeemed, creation itself will also be set free from being a slave of decay, and will share our glory! While God cares for man, He also cares for His creation, and has made a plan to redeem it.

Instead of focusing on what is falling apart, let’s look at a few things God makes new.

“Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. Do you need a road in your wilderness? Do you need rivers in your desert?

“For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth; and the former shall not be remembered or come to mind” (Isaiah 65:17). We won’t even think about what it was like!

“Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness” (Lamentations 3:22-23.) There are times when we really look forward to the mercy and compassion of the Lord’s morning finally coming after a long, dark night of the soul.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17).

There will also be the new man (Colossians 3:10), a new name (Revelation 2:17), and a new song (Revelation 5:9).

And then, the great declaration of our Lord Himself in Revelation 21:5: “Then He who sat on the throne said, Behold, I make all things new…”

Does this give you hope? 2 Corinthians 4:16 says, “Therefore we do not lose heart.
