Dear Abigail,<\/p>\n

My neighbor and good friend thinks that God should open up the ground and swallow the evil people of this world like He did in days of old. What she doesn\u2019t realize is that she, too, could be one of \u201cthose people.\u201d How do you share Jesus with someone who doesn\u2019t understand the work of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit?<\/p>\n

Dear Frantic,<\/p>\n

Your friend probably thinks that \u201cthose people\u201d are evil, but that \u201cwe\u201d are good. You can divest her of that mindset by confessing a sin God has forgiven you for. It may lead her to admit wrongdoing, as well, if you say, \u201cYou know, I have coveted things I shouldn\u2019t have,\u201d or, \u201cI stole something once.\u201d<\/p>\n

Whether she shares or not, you have an opportunity to uncover the grace of God and the work Jesus did on the cross for all \u201cus sinners.\u201d<\/p>\n

Point out that there is no way you would have been good enough for God because any wrongdoing would mar the holiness of God. It\u2019s only by putting on the righteousness of Jesus that we become acceptable to God, and then the Holy Spirit (God\u2019s divine essence) lives with and in us, helping us, comforting us, and giving us hope that we will be with Him forever.<\/p>\n

We don\u2019t get that because we are good. No one is good enough to earn it. It is Jesus’s gift to the world, no strings attached. Ask her if she wants it. Even if she doesn\u2019t say \u201cyes\u201d today, those seeds of hope will be planted.<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t forget to pray for her!<\/p>\n

\u201cFor all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus\u2026\u201d <\/em>Romans 3:23<\/p>\n<\/div>
