Waiting<\/strong><\/h2>\n

\u201cI stand silently before the Lord, waiting for Him to rescue me. For salvation comes from Him alone.\u00a0Yes, He alone is my rock, my rescuer, defense and fortress. Why then should I be tense with fear when troubles come?\u201d <\/em>Psalms 62:1-2 TLB<\/p>\n

How well do you wait? If you\u2019re like most\u2014and I am saying this with me in mind\u2014we are not the most patient people. Since 2020, we all have experienced this phenomenon, waiting. <\/em>We wait in lines for everything, we wait on the telephone, at restaurants, grocery stores, banks, doctors\u2019 offices\u2014don\u2019t get me started on that topic. We wait, and we continue to wait more and more.<\/p>\n

Even when we feel we have waited long enough, the phone line goes dead, and we have to start all over. The doctor is called away on an emergency, sorry, yes, but I <\/em>could be an emergency! The bank teller has to take her lunch or break now\u2014so sorry. Well, the list goes on and on. So, what are we mere mortals to do with all this waiting? What do you do? Guess we could get upset, mad, discouraged even, or we could take this time to think and pray. Really, what are we all in such a hurry for? Usually it\u2019s a man-made reason and God tells us in His word to wait patiently on the Lord.<\/p>\n

\u201cI will wait for the Lord to help us, though He is hiding now. My only hope is in Him\u201d<\/em> (Isaiah 8:17 TLB).<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, I find myself scurrying from here to there and when all is said and done, I finally ask myself, \u201cWhat are you running to?\u201d If it is not a true emergency, why can\u2019t I slow down, why can\u2019t I understand that life is already too fast paced? As Christians we really do need to be ready to wait on God and hear what He has for us. Are you willing to try? I know I am. Even though I know I will fail over and over, I am willing to allow God to use this \u201cwaiting time\u201d for His good.<\/p>\n

So maybe waiting is necessary and is something God wants to teach us, me especially, in those waiting moments. The next time I\u2019m anxious, the waiting to speak to me, to teach me, to show me something wonderful that He has for me just after my waiting time is up.<\/p>\n

Father God, please help us to learn that those times of waiting are really moments we can spend with You listening to what you have for us. Help us to be more receptive, and quiet our minds to hear only you. Amen!<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>
