We began preparing for our Easter service months earlier. Our team performed a skit, we had special music including a song performed to a power point presentation, we gave out an Easter gift of scripture and candy, and we all worked together to serve dinner to about 200 guests of the mission. It was a great night. We all sensed that the Holy Spirit was directing the night from beginning to end. But my favorite part of the night came after the presentation and service were finished.

I was sitting down speaking to a woman who had come to the chapel service. We were having a nice conversation, and she was telling me how much she enjoyed the service. Most of the chairs were empty as people were milling around and getting checked in for the night. However, there was a man sitting in the chair next to the woman I was speaking to. He was just sitting and listening to our conversation. After a few minutes, I started including him in the conversation. He told me that he is a Christian, and through tears he thanked me for our team and the night’s service. He said that he didn’t know why he was still sitting there. He just didn’t want to leave. He wanted to be with us a little longer. He wasn’t ready to let go of our time together. I hugged him for a while and talked more about his life. He then went on to receive prayer from other members of our team.

That was such a special time for me. I am grateful that I was able to be a part of that man’s night and spend some time with him. He couldn’t figure out why he wanted to stay in his seat and didn’t want to leave, but as I have prayed about that incident, I know what he wanted. He was craving “salt and light.”

Matthew tells us that we are the “salt of the earth” and “light of the world.” When we walk into a room we bring with us a flavor and light that cannot be found outside of the presence of the Living God. WE are the “salt of the earth”: we bring flavor and enhance the environment that we are in. WE are the “light of the world”: we bring light to the darkness of people’s lives by just being with them. The Spirit of God dwells within us, so it is no wonder that we have the ability to change the atmosphere of a room just by entering.

Dear Heavenly Father, I pray that as we go through our day today we are able to bring salt and light to the world around us. Fill us with Your Spirit so that we might bring flavor and light to our environment wherever we go. I pray this in Jesus name. Amen.

{"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false
[47

post-32327","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-women
["GET
