The Longing in our Hearts<\/b><\/h2>\n

We are too easily pleased, too easily distracted, too quick to pursue the meaningless. We grasp at straws and treasure the mundane. And yet the Almighty has designed us for an eternity of beauty and wonder.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We find comfort in the things of earth. Food, money, sex, the illusion of control, winning and gaining and hoarding. Our hearts cry, \u201cMine!\u201d\u00a0It all provides pleasure, a sense of power, a sense of superiority, convenience, the accolades of others.\u00a0And yet it is never enough. It never truly satisfies that deep-down desire of our very souls. We know there is something else. There is something more than this.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHe has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts\u2026\u201d<\/span><\/i>\u00a0(Ecclesiastes 3:11).<\/span><\/p>\n

Surely God has supplied our needs and grants earthly enjoyments, but we must not stop there. We were not made for earth. We were made for heaven\u2019s treasures that fully enrich and satisfy.\u00a0Wonders and revelations stretch before us. We will not lack or suffer a desire unmet or a thirst unquenched. More than we can imagine awaits us in His presence.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAnd this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son\u201d<\/span><\/i>\u00a0(1 John 5:11).<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore\u201d<\/span><\/i>\u00a0(Psalm 16:11).<\/span><\/p>\n

David Mathis has said, \u201cThe infinite God will never be done showing us the immeasurable riches of His grace or the full vista of Himself.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

So loosen your grip on these earthly diversions and encourage your poor heart that the best is yet to come.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>
