We were hearing from the weather people that we would possibly be receiving some snow here on the valley floor and more in the mountains, but we have heard that before and it never amounted to much. But what if it was true?

My life at times is like that—worrying about this or that, but then all those things I worried and agonized over never really mounted to much most of those times. Still, I find myself tossing and turning, confused as to what God wants from me.

“But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. Do I understand what He has for me ? Or am I just pretending to know, pretending to understand? Do I take the time to go to Him and sit at His feet and hear what He has to say?

I know we need to be in the Word daily, but are we? Praise God that He loves me anyway with all my faults and fallacies. I do know He requires obedience from me, all of me, all of the time, and because I love Him, He does have all of me. He gives me new beginnings every day, no matter what I did nor did not do yesterday. His mercies are new every day for every one of us.

“Through the LORD’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. We were getting the snow they had predicted. Then as night grew still, I walked about outside where there was this quietness, so much so it was deafening. The ultra-white snow glistened on what was once grass and the trees took on this eerie, beautiful silhouette. As the snow coated the limbs, there was nothing to be heard except the beating of my heart stilled by the beauty that God had sent down from heaven. I was so in awe of His creation.

Snow had shown me that just as this night was quiet, I too needed to be quiet before the most holy. I needed to hear just Him—just His heart intertwining with mine so that I knew exactly what He wanted from me. It was exactly what I knew all along—He only needed my obedience and to hear Him speaking. I did not need to be worried or confused—I just needed the One who already had me in the palm of His hand, Who was just waiting for me to realize I only needed to be quiet.

“Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you…” (James 4:8 CSB).

Father, thank You for those moments that You show us Your heart.
