Life GPS<\/strong><\/h2>\n

I wrote recently about the guinea fowl we have roaming around\u2014the ones with the tiny brains.\u00a0We have another creature in our neighborhood too\u2014a mongoose.\u00a0He roams from house to house.\u00a0He’s nice to have around as he eats field mice, insects, and is known to kill snakes. It’s fun to watch him run around the yard looking for creatures.<\/p>\n

Recently I observed the guinea fowl and the mongoose come together.\u00a0I don’t think they knew what to think of each other.\u00a0They looked at one another, and then began to run in circles chasing each other\u2014round and round they went.\u00a0They ran off, and then came back and did it again.\u00a0I’m not sure if there’s a lesson here (except that maybe it’s not very productive to run in circles) but it was fun to watch them.\u00a0I am so entertained by God’s creatures!<\/p>\n

In spite of loving God’s creatures, I am not an out-in-nature kind of person. I get confused using a compass.\u00a0But I’ve always had a good sense of direction.\u00a0Through the years with all our travels, if I went somewhere one time, I could usually find my way back there again\u2014sometimes even years later.\u00a0Floyd was always amazed at this.\u00a0I had a built-in compass!<\/p>\n

But I have to tell you that I’ve not always had clear direction at things I’ve faced the last few years\u2026 even the last few weeks. I often find myself not knowing what way to go.\u00a0Some things I’ve faced before, but the path seems different this time.\u00a0I’ve had so many decisions to make.\u00a0It has felt daunting, confusing at times.<\/p>\n

Thankfully, God knows the way! I’ve tried to stay tucked in close to Him so that I don’t have to worry about getting lost.\u00a0I find myself calling out to Him frequently, asking Him to guide me step by step so that I don’t fall or lose my way\u00a0 I know He has a perfect, unfailing sense of direction.<\/p>\n

I must confess that I’ve had some times recently when I didn’t feel Him leading me, guiding me.\u00a0In these times I find it important to go to the Word and trust His promises even if I’m not feeling them.\u00a0His Word, His promises are unwavering, unchanging.\u00a0I can count on them. I can’t trust my feelings, but I can trust Him.<\/p>\n

Lots of people these days use GPS to direct them to where they’re going as they drive.\u00a0One of the things I like about them is that even if you take a wrong turn, it keeps directing you back to where you said you wanted to go. It never gives up!\u00a0The Lord is like that.\u00a0He will keep directing us until we get to where we need to go.<\/p>\n

Holding on to the Lord’s hand, He will help me not to stumble when I’m daunted by all I’m facing…even if I run in circles like the mongoose and guinea fowl!<\/p>\n
